Personal Experience

Denise Britton, Managing Director of Britton Psychological Services, has extensive experience in counselling, psychological and family assessment, forensic reporting and mediation. She holds degrees in both social work and psychology and since 1989 has been registered as a psychologist in Queensland. She is a trained mediator and joint proprietor of Brisbane Mediations with Mike Emerson.

Denise has been in her own business since 1985 and since 1995 has been a Director of Britton Psychological Services, which provides a full range of psychology services with a particular focus on counselling, assessments and reports in family law matters involving children¡¦s issues.

Denise is on the Legal Aid Queensland and Federal Magistrates Court panels for report writers, the Legal Aid Queensland Conference Chairperson panel and was a Regulation 8 counsellor with the Family Court for many years. She frequently trains lawyers and social scientists ¡V particularly in the area of Family Law.

Denise has been an approved trainer for the National Child Representative Training Program since 1996, assists the Queensland Law Society with family law training and is a member of the executive of the Association of Private Practising Psychologists, Queensland [APPP(Q)], through which she also trains psychologists and social scientists.

Denise has sat on Community Corrections Boards in Queensland since 1989 and currently sits on the Queensland Health Practitioners Tribunal as a Member of the Queensland Government Panel of Assessors for Psychologists.

Denise is also Queensland Manager for The Workwise Group, a national provider of psychological and consultancy services to public and private sector clients. In this role she manages a large network of psychologists who deliver employee assistance and trauma intervention counselling across South East Queensland. The philosophy underpinning Denise¡¦s professional life to date has been to provide excellent service with the health and well-being of the clients (adults, children, relationships, families and organisations) as the main focus.
