Barbara Miller, Principal of Mediation Works Qld, brings 20 years experience in the alternative dispute resolution field, much of that in the family law area. She is a registered family dispute resolution practitioner specializing in parenting matters and property settlements and can provide certificates under s601 of the Family Law Act when necessary. Barbara also has extensive experience in workplace disputes, including Work Cover, facilitating difficult public meetings, neighbourhood disputes, peace and good behaviour and victim-offenderr mediations, mediating land use and commercial disputes, mediating with Aboriginal parties, mediating between community organisations and government and inter-organisational disputes etc.

Face to face and telephone dispute resolution is available with a speedy turn around when both parties are willing to mediate.

Barbara has a BA (Hons) in Psychology and a Gr Dip in Sociology. She has a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. She is a member of Leadr, a mediator organisation and an Associate Member of the Australian Paychological Society.

CREDENTIALS

Barbara has been on the panel of the Dispute Resolution Centre of the Qld Attorney-Generals Dept  for 20 years and worked for the Cairns Family Relationship Centre for a number of years. She is also a nationally registered psychologist and has experience in relationship counselling. It is not possible for her to mediate if one of the parties is being counselled by her however.

Barbara has trained mediators both for the Dispute Resolution Centre and in her private practice.
